Here's an update on the baby...

So the plan right now is to have the baby's CPS worker from Houston bring her to our home NEXT Friday. We will keep her through the weekend and if all goes well we'll sign the paperwork on MONDAY! I can hardly believe it! We still have to wait 6 months to adopt her to establish abandonment but after that she's ours!!!

Last night we were talking to Ezra about babies and asking him some questions like:

Me: Ezra, what color will be baby be?
E: Green.
Me: hmmmm... okay, well what will the baby look like?
E: Round.

I plan to get him a book or two today about adding a baby to the family since I know it will not be a transition he will take gracefully. Any suggestions?

I'm so excited for you all. Good luck with the transition. There are so many great books about adding a new sibling to a family. You'll be fine and Ezra will be a great big brother (eventually ;))

wow! Congrats on your new little one. The only words of wisdom I have to offer is be prepared for him to regress in age and temperment once the baby comes. It doesn't always happen but both my boys have regressed a bit when another child has come into the home. Henry loves the Froggy series- Froggy gets a baby sister is one of his favorites as it relates to his new sister. I think we have some others, I'll check the book shelf

My advice:
Don't look for "things", just be aware. Every kid handles transition differently, and everyone has some adjusting to do. It will take time, but everyone will find their new norm.

Side story - When our daughter was born, we called Martin to tell him he had a new baby sister. The first question was, "What kind of baby is she?" He was meaning what color. We said white. He said he thought so, and he's been an excellent big brother with an adoring little sister.

I cannot wait to hear more about your growing family!

Congratulations!!
