Our kiddos at Trees of Glory

Trees of Glory in Ethiopia is another care center that works with Children's Hopechest to find sponsor families for orphans and families in dire need of humanitarian aid. I sponsor a boy there (Frehiwot) and my sister sponsors 2 children a girl (Birtukan) and a boy (Mentesenot). Karen Wistrom's team recently went on a mission trip to ET to deliver care packages to the kiddos and to work on some building projects.

Mentesenot:

While there, Karen learned that Mentesenot's father had passed away from AIDS and his mother recently left him at the care center since her death also from AIDS is imminent. Mentesenot has not stopped speaking and as you can see from these pictures seems vacant and haunted. My heart BREAKS for him and the thousands of children just like him who have had their little lives destroyed by poverty and disease. BUT with help from YOU we can at least hope to bring a smile to these kiddos faces and let them know that they are loved and known by name. Someone cares for them across the ocean and wants to ensure that they have food and an education and a future.
Karen said that Menesenot has not spoken in a while but after receiving his care package he whispered "thank you" which drove the director of the center to tears. That little care package gave this little boy a little spark of hope and maybe even some happiness. Maybe with enough little sparks my sister's sponsorship will bring him back to life.

Birtukan:

Frehiwot:
Wearing the jacket and button down shirt I sent him.

Isn't he crazy handsome!

Trees of Glory is in need of more sponsors for the kiddos housed there.
